Greek Ethniki Katigoria club Kallithea GS have named Nikos Anastopoulos as their new coach.
Article body
Newly promoted Greek club Kallithea GS have named Nikos Anastopoulos as their new coach following Nikos Kourbanas's resignation last week.
Kourbanas quits
Kourbanas called it a day on Thursday, having watched the Rhodes-based club lose their opening two Ethniki Katigoria matches. A 1-0 away defeat at the hands of reigning champions Olympiakos Piraeus FC may not have been wholly unexpected, but the 2-0 home loss against Akratitos proved too much for Kourbanas.
One-year contract
Anastopoulos has signed a one-year contract with Kallithea, tying him to the club until the summer of 2003, and the former Greek international takes control after spells as coach of Elefsina, PAS Giannina and Panahaiki FC during the last three seasons.
Goals record
The former Panionios FC and Olympiakos striker was a prolific striker as a player and still holds the title of record goalscorer for his country.
