Signori blow for Bologna

Members

Bologna FC captain Giuseppe Signori faces two months out after twisting his left knee.

Bologna FC captain Giuseppe Signori twisted his left knee during a friendly against AC Imolese today and seems set to be out for almost two months.

Similar injury
The 34-year-old striker, who has scored 170 goals in a Serie A career that has taken in Foggia Calcio, S.S. Lazio, Sampdoria UC and Bologna, sustained a similar injury last season that restricted him to just 14 league appearances. Signori has been capped 28 times by Italy, scoring seven goals.

Big blow
The news is a big blow for Bologna coach Francesco Guidolin who is now short of options in attack, with another striker Giacomo Cipriani still recovering from a knee injury. Former SSC Napoli forward Claudio Bellucci or 18-year-old starlet Luigi Della Rocca could now link up with Argentinian Julio Cruz in attack.

Losing finalists
After losing in the UEFA Intertoto Cup finals against Fulham FC, Bologna started their domestic campaign with a 2-1 win against AS Roma and face Atalanta BC on Sunday in their second match of the season.
