Vålerenga Fotball reached the Norwegian Cup final after a 2-0 win against Aalesund FK.

Vålerenga Fotball have reached their sixth Norwegian Cup final after a 2-0 win against Aalesund FK.

Surprise decision
Player-coach Kjetil Rekdal decided not to field himself from the start of the game at the Ullevaal stadium, but after he came on as a second half substitute, he played a major part in revitalising Vålerenga.

Kah drives Vålerenga
Tobias Grahn opened the scoring midway through the second half with a header from a fine cross by Gambian Pa Modouh Kah. Kah then sealed the victory for the top-flight side against the 1. division leaders with a low finish into the right of the Aalesund net.

'We did not play well'
"We did not play well at all in the first half, a little better after the interval," said Rekdal after the game. "The most important thing, though, was to qualify for the final." Vålerenga will face the winner of tomorrow's game between Stabæk IF and Odds BK at the Ullevaal stadium on 3 November.
