Article body
FC St. Gallen confirmed today that they have parted company with coach Gerard Castella.
Poor run
The 49-year-old had been at the Swiss first division club since January after replacing Marcel Koller. But a run of poor form, culminating in defeat by FC Zürich last weekend, has led to the departure of the former Servette FC coach.
Temporary appointment
The club's under-21 coach, Thomas Staub, has taken temporary charge of the side for the next league game against Servette on Saturday, with the club languishing in ninth place in the 12-team league with 12 points.
Financial crisis
St. Gallen are in the middle of a financial crisis and president Thomas Müller has already asked the squad to consider a wage reduction following their failure to qualify for the UEFA Cup.
