Lithuania round-up: Kaunas safe at top

FBK Kaunas overcame a tough SFK Sakalas side to win 1-0 and stay six points clear at the top of the Lithuanian first diivison table.

Audrius Slekys was the hero for Kaunas, as his brilliant scissor-kick on 89 minutes earned a much-needed victory for the defending champions.

Atlantas keep up pressure
Meanwhile, second-placed FK Atlantas also earned three points, beating basement club FK Nevézis 3-1. Martynas Karalius, Minoru Takenaka and Tomas Tamosauskas scored for Atlantas, while Arturas Rimkevicius earned a consolation goal for Nevézis with a penalty kick.

FK Ekranas, in third, held FK Inkaras to a scoreless draw, to keep a four-point gap between the teams, while FK Zalgiris Vilnius finished 2-2 against KASK FK Gelezinis Vilkas. Giedrius Barevicius scored two penalties as the capital club looked to end their winless streak, but Gelezinis Vilkas fought back through Ricardas Padegimas and Gvidas Juska.
