Czech Republic round-up: Slovan slip up

FC Slovan Liberec were beaten at home for the first time in 25 games, losing 2-0 to Baník Ostrava on Sunday and therefore missing their chance to go top of the Prva HNL.

AC Sparta Praha's goalless draw at home to Marila Príbram on Friday night had opened the door for Slovan to usurp them at the summit, but Libor Zurek's penalty and a wonderful lob from David Bystron condemned them to defeat at the U Nisy stadium.

FC Zlín grabbed their first away point at CU Bohemians Praha, but they had to come from behind after Karel Melecký's penalty had put the home side ahead. Zlín captain Jaroslav Svach restored parity and his side almost won the game when substitute Petr Zemánek hit the bar at the death.

Early penalty
Libor Dosek's second-minute penalty was enough to secure 1. FC Brno victory against FK Chmel Blšany and FK Teplice continued in their progress under new coach Frantisek Straka by winning their third consecutive match, defeating SK Hradec Králové 2-0 by virtue of goals from Dusan Tesarík and Michal Kolomazník.
