In the Kazakh Super League, FC Irtysh Pavlodar are romping towards the title, after recording another win at the weekend, this time against FC Tobol Kostanay.
Nine points clear
Denis Proskurin and Serik Zhelijtbayev scored for Irtysh in their 2-0 success, and they are now nine points ahead of their nearest rivals FK Atyrau, who kept the pressure on by beating FC Zhenis Astana 1-0. Goran Dragicevic scored the only goal, as Atyrau took a serious step towards UEFA Cup qualification for next season.
Tleshev double
Elsewhere, FC Shakhtyor Karaganda beat FK Aktobe Lento 3-1. Viktor Kovalev scored on 28 minutes to give Aktobe-Lento a lead, but Murat Tleshev responded twice, and Evgeni Lunev struck a penalty to help Shakhtyor to a 3-1 victory. Lunev also has increased his tally to 14 goals to reclaim the top spot in scorers rankings.
