Norway round-up: Champions sign off in style

Champions Rosenborg BK celebrated their eleventh title in a row by crushing SK Brann on the final day of the Norwegian season.

Fitting finale
At a packed Lerkendal stadium, Rosenberg won 4-0 to give coach Nils Arne Eggen a fitting send-off in his last domestic match in charge of the Trondheim club. The coach will call it a day at the end of Rosenborg's UEFA Champions League campaign.

Brattbakk double
Harald Martin Brattbakk scored two of the goals to finish Norway's top scorer with 17 goals. The only comfort for Brann in defeat was that relegation rivals Moss FK also lost which gave Brann the chance to preserve their top-flight status in a play-off.

Finish in style
"It was important for us to finish with style," said Eggen. "I wish Brann good luck, Norwegian football needs the Bergen club in the top division, but we could not help them, of course."

Three goals
Molde FK made sure of second, but did not impress with a 3-3 draw at home against Sogndal IL, who played half of the match with just ten men. In the end, the result did not matter as SFK Lyn, Molde's rivals for second spot, lost 1-0 to Viking FK in Oslo. In a close match, Viking's winning goal came from former Manchester United FC man Erik Nevland.

Juliussen off
Moss went down 7-2 to end their season on a sorry note. The club could have survived with a victory after Brann were beaten, but were no match for Stabæk IF. To add insult to injury, Anders Juliussen was sent off early in the second half.

Rösler rampant
Lillestrøm SK finished emphatically with a 3-0 victory against Odds BK with striker Uwe Rösler scoring his ninth goal in ten matches. Magnus Powell, who had been out for a year, made a tremendous return and also finished on the scoresheet as Lillestrøm ended the season in seventh.

Våleranga eye final
Odds seemed to have one eye on next Sunday's Norwegian Cup final against Vålerenga Fotball at the Ullevål Stadium. Vålerenga could also be accused of doing much the same in their 2-2 away draw with Bryne FK.

Bodø /Glimt secure
Finally, FK Bodø/Glimt made absolutely sure of their safety with a 3-0 triumph at already relegated IK Start. Start drop out of the Tippeligaen after ten defeats in a row and, overall, conceded 72 goals along the way.
