Wieslaw Wojno has taken charge of Zaglebie Lubin after former coach Adam Nawalk resigned following six defeats in the opening nine matches of the Polish Ekstraklasa season.
High hopes
When he appointed Nawalka in the summer, ambitious Zaglebie chairman Jerzy Kozinski said: "I expect that Zaglebie will finish next season in sixth place. Our next step in future will be qualifying for Europe. Adam Nawalka is one of the best coaches of new generation. If we create optimal conditions for him, we will be successful."
Stood down
However, Nawalka stood down on Sunday following a 0-0 home draw with Widzew Lódz - a result which left Zagelebie with just seven points from nine matches. Wojno, who will be assisted by Krzysztof Koszarski and Ryszard Bozyczko, said of the predicament facing his new club: "We need to work hard. I realise we cannot play worse than we have to this point."
