Victor Piturca has been re-appointed coach of FC Steaua Bucuresti.

Victor Piturca has been re-appointed coach of FC Steaua Bucuresti, replacing Cosmin Olaroiu, who resigned on Friday.

Iovan assisting
The 48-year-old will be assisted by Stefan Iovan, who assumed a caretaker role to guide the capital club to a 3-2 win over FC Arges-Dacia Pitesti at the weekend.

Second spell
Piturca had a spell at the helm of the Romanian national squad in the late 1990s before joining Steaua in December 1999, a position he held until the end of the 2001/02 season. During his first spell in charge, he guided the club to the Divizia A championship in 2001 but stepped down after failing to qualify for any European competitions the following year.

'Logical choice'
The club's majority shareholder, Gigi Becali, said: "Piturca is our logical choice and his targets are, as usual, the title and the FA Cup".
