Article body
VfL Wolfsburg moved up to seventh in the 1. Bundesliga table on Sunday thanks to Diego Klimowicz's solitary strike against FC Hansa Rostock.
Impressive Effenberg
Klimowicz struck in the 29th minute to condemn Rostock to their first away defeat of the season after three wins in their first four games on the road. The hosts could have been in front before that, however, but Klimowicz, having been put in by Robson Ponte, failed to beat keeper Mathias Schober with team-mates Stefan Effenberg and Tomislav Maric expecting a pass. He did atone for his earlier profligacy though by finding the back of the net shortly before the half hour mark.
Maric chance
The second half was poor in comparison to the first as high winds took hold of proceedings. Both sides struggled to find the killer pass with the visitors showing the greater urgency as they sought to get back on level terms. The best chance of the second 45 minutes fell the way of Wolfsburg, however. Maric found himself free in the area but his shot flew wide of Schober's right-hand post.
Match postponed
A heavy storm forced the postponement of the other first division match between 1. FC Kaiserslautern and VfL Bochum 1848. The German Football Association said the game had been called off two hours before the planned kick-off due to safety concerns. No new date for the match has been set.
