Article body
Club Brugge KV and RSC Anderlecht have finally agreed on a fixture date for their Belgian first division meeting at the Jan Breydel stadium in Bruges.
Local dispute
The match was due to take place on Saturday but had to be rescheduled after Brugge officials failed to reach agreement with the city authorities over whether it should be played in the afternoon or evening. Instead the match will now be played on Saturday 7 December at 15.00CET.
Security fears
The Bruges authorities had been reluctant for the match to be played at night for "security measures" after Anderlecht fans caused more than €10,000 worth of damage to the Jan Breydelstadion during last season's fixture. However, Brugge were refusing to play in the afternoon for "financial reasons".
Welcome break
Brugge remained top of the table despite not playing and coach Trond Sollied felt his players benefited from the break ahead of tomorrow night's UEFA Champions League match against FC Barcelona. "It was an opportunity for everybody to rest and to practise," he said. "Some of my players played in the reserve game on Friday night and we trained on Saturday. Sunday was a complete rest day for everybody."
