Sweden round-up: Malmö win sets up grand finale

Members

Malmö FF kept their Swedish title hopes alive and Djurgårdens IF on tenterhooks on a dramatic Monday night.

Malmö FF kept their Allsvenskan title hopes alive tonight with a 5-0 win against AIK Solna.

Fascinating climax
The result means that Djurgårdens IF will go into their final game of the season away to IF Elfsborg needing a point or more to seal their first championship since 1966. If they slip up a win for Malmö against Halmstads BK will be enough to claim their first title since 1988 on goal difference. The Halmstad trip looks the tougher on paper, however, given they are unbeaten in ten matches.

No nerves
Djurgården would have claimed the championship had Malmö failed to win but their rivals showed no nerves. Peter Ijeh opened the scoring after ten minutes and Daniel Majstorovic added a second six minutes before the break. Majstorovic was on target again on the hour and late goals from Andreas Yngversson and a second from Ijeh, his 24th of the season, secured a comprehensive win.

IFK stay alive
Elsewhere, IFK Göteborg kept their survival hopes alive with a 1-0 win against fellow strugglers Hammarby IF FF courtesy of an 86th-minute goal from Patric Andersson. That result, combined with IFK Norrköping's 2-2 draw against Örebro SK, leaves IFK 12th in the table and in the relegation play-off spot, two points ahead of Norrköping with just one game left. Hammarby themselves are now just one point ahead of IFK, who face bottom-placed Kalmar FF in their final game.

Norrköping woe
Norrköping were at one stage 2-0 ahead thanks to two Antti Sumiala goals only for Örebro to pull back to 2-2 thanks to strikes from Herish Kuhi and Mirza Jelecak - goals which secured their top-flight status in the process. Third-placed Örgryte IS beat Landskrona BoIS 1-0 in the night's other game, meaning Landskrona could still slip into the relegation play-off place.
