Milan Boksa has been fired by 1. FC Synot and replaced by Radek Rabusic after premature exits from two cup competitions and a disappointing start to the Czech 1. liga season.
European campaign
The 51-year-old Boksa took over at Synot in the summer and was immediately charged with trying to secure a berth in the UEFA Cup via the UEFA Intertoto Cup. Things started brightly with a victory against Helsingborgs IF, but FC Sochaux-Montbéliard proved too strong in the third qualifying round, winning 3-0 on aggregate.
No away points
Synot were looking to build on last season's eleventh-placed finish this term but have recorded just two successes in their opening nine league matches and remain the only team in the top flight yet to earn an away point. A loss to second division side TJ Vítkovice in the Czech Cup merely added fuel to the fire and Synot finally lost patience with Boksa today.
'Quality players'
"We have the quality players to achieve better results but the coach was not rigorous enough towards them," said club director Jaroslav Hastík, before announcing Rabusic, Boksa's assistant and a former goalkeeper, as Synot's new coach.
