'They wanted me out'
Piekarski had been criticised for his performance in the UEFA Cup second-round defeat by Portuguese side Boavista FC last Thursday. And the former Legia Warszawa, SC Bastia and CR Flamengo playmaker admitted: "I was expecting this. On Monday, the club's president told me they had nothing against me but wanted me to leave the club."

Piekarski had joined Anorthosis in the summer, linking up with Polish coach Edward Lorens, and impressed on his debut in the UEFA Cup qualifying-round win over Luxembourg's CS Grevenmacher. However, his form slipped in recent weeks, culminating in a disappointing showing in the 1-0 home reverse against Boavista which capped a 3-1 aggregate loss.
Anorthosis money claim
Meanwhile, Majak and Kowalczyk both claimed they were owed money when they walked out of Anorthosis earlier this season.
