PSV Eindhoven have lost midfield player Mark van Bommel until Christmas with a groin injury.

PSV Eindhoven have suffered another setback after their early elimination from the UEFA Champions League and failure to make the UEFA Cup with the news that Mark van Bommel is out until Christmas.

Groin injury
The Dutch club, who finished bottom of Group A in the Champions League first group stage, revealed the 25-year-old had suffered a groin injury in the 2-1 defeat by Feyenoord on Sunday. The defeat left PSV in second place, three points behind leaders AFC Ajax.

Rest needed
Van Bommel had already withdrawn from the Netherlands squad to face Germany in a friendly international this Wednesday. However, it was not known how serious the injury was until today. He will need ten days of rest before beginning his recovery process. PSV also have injury concerns over Kevin Hofland, Kasper Bøgelund and Arnold Bruggink.
