Shoot-out win
Substitute goalkeeper Pavel Kiseljov was the hero for the league champions, making a two vital saves as Flora overcame their neighbours and Estonian Cup winners 4-2 on penalties after the game finished 1-1 following extra time.
Artificial pitch
On a cold and snowy Monday night, the game was played on an artificial pitch at the A. Le Coq Arena. Flora dominated most of the game, but came close to receiving a nasty surprise after their opponents opened the scoring on 12 minutes through Vladimir Voskoboinikov.
Long-range shot
Levadia held on to their advantage until the 68th minute when Martin Reim set up Joel Lindpere to score with a fierce long-range shot. In extra time, Flora's Norwegian forward Tor Henning Hamre missed a perfect chance to win the trophy, but penalties it was.
Vital saves
Stand-in goalkeeper Kiseljov saved penalties from Aleksejs Pasins and Aleksandr Dmitrijev to help Flora take the cup. "In some ways it was a coincidence that I guessed the direction of Pasins' and Dmitrijev's shots, but a goalkeeper also has some secrets of how to act during penalties," said Kiseljov. "What kind? I do not think I cannot reveal them."
Award for Piiroja
Further good news for Flora was that central defender Raio Piiroja has been named as the Estonian Football Association player of the year, finishing ahead of team-mates Reim and Marko Kristal.
