Further agony for Friedrich

SV Werder Bremen defender Manuel Friedrich has suffered ligament damage for the second time this year.

Out for season
The 23-year-old suffered the initial injury in July and was included in training for the first time this season on Monday. Now Friedrich is expected to be out of action for a further six months, meaning he will miss the rest of the 1. Bundesliga season.

'Heart of a fighter'
Coach Thomas Schaaf said: "It's a shock for all of us. He will receive the support he needs to overcome the injury again and catch up with the team again. He has already shown that he has the heart of a fighter."
