Birkirkara FC won Malta's Super Five Cup for the second time with a 4-1 victory against Hibernians FC.

Birkirkara FC won Malta's Super Five Cup for the second time with a 4-1 victory against champions Hibernians FC in the Centenary stadium.

Three by half-time
Depleted Hibernians, without goalkeeper Mario Muscat, striker Adrian Mifsud, and key players Ndubisi Chuckunyere, Henry Pullicino and Branko Nisevic, were on the defensive from the start against a Birkirkara team who took the lead in the 23rd minute through Michael Galea. Lino Galea then supplied Michael Galea to score the second 14 minutes later with a powerful shot from close range, and Mallia made it 3-0 just before half-time after getting to a loose ball ahead of Hibernians stand-in goalkeeper Ranier Farrugia.

Camenzuli seals win
Terence Scerri almost reduced the lead after the break when his drive was cleared off the line by William Camenzuli. However, Camenzuli was on target himself for Birkarkara's fourth with a powerful shot, although Roderick Baldacchino did score a consolation for Hibernians a minute from time, as their opponents claimed the trophy for the first time since 1998/99.

Sliema claim third
The night before, Sliema Wanderers FC came third in the competition by defeating fellow beaten semi-finalists Valletta FC 3-1.
