Club targets
Shevchuk, who is also a member of Valeri Gazzev's coaching staff in the Russian national team, said he could no longer fulfil his role for the club after failing to reach the targets set at the start of the 2002 season.
Near miss
Saturn had aimed to finish in the top four, but finished seventh. However, up until the final day of the campaign, Shevchuk was within sight of achieving his target. Saturn were undone as they lost 3-0 against PFC CSKA Moskva to allow FC Torpedo Moskva to finish fourth, and give CSKA a title play-off against FC Lokomotiv Moskva this Thursday.
New man soon
Saturn, based in the Moscow satellite town of Ramenskoye, finished with 47 points, 19 points behind CSKA and Lokomotiv who finished the season level. The club have said that their new coach will be named in the "near future".
