Pyunik dominant
A dominant Pyunik, the defending champions, put on an impressive attacking display, with Arman Karamyan recording a hat-trick to increase his tally to 35 goals this season. Pyunik captain Vardan Minasyan also scored twice while Kotayk managed a second-half consolation goal from the penalty spot through Hayk Harutunyan.
Triumph for López
Pyunik, who also beat city rivals Zvartnots 2-0 in the Armenian Cup final earlier this year, now have 56 points from 21 matches with one to go. It was a triumphant season for Pyunik's Argentinian coach Oscar López, who also coaches Armenia's national team.
Important points
Elsewhere, FC Shirak picked up an important three points against FC Banants as the fierce battle between the sides for runners-up spot continued. The only goal of a narrow encounter came on 47 minutes through Tigran Davtyan. The result saw Shirak leapfrog Banants in the table by one point with one game remaining. On the final day of the season Shirak will travel to face FC Lernagorts while Banants will take on FC Spartak Yerevan.
Other games
Spartak beat Lernagorts 6-0 with Ara Hakobyan scoring four times. Elsewhere, FC Ararat Yerevan beat FC MIKA 3-0, FC Zvartnots AAL overcame FC Dinamo-2000 Yerevan 4-0, while FC Lernayin Artsakh beat FSC Lori 5-1 to condemn the latter side to relegation.
