Meijer has been suffering with hamstring problems and has not played a 1. Bundesliga game since the 1-1 draw with BV Borussia Dortmund at the beginning of November. The 33-year-old will be sidelined for four weeks and is expected to be fit again in time for the beginning of training after the winter break.

Meijer joined Hamburger SV in 2000 after spells with clubs including Liverpool FC, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and PSV Eindhoven. In 161 Bundesliga matches he has scored 36 goals and has won one cap for the Dutch national side.
