SV Werder Bremen captain Frank Baumann has ended speculation about a move to Bayer 04 Leverkusen or BV Borussia Dortmund by signing a three-year extension to his contract with the Weserstadion club.
'A key player'
Baumann, who would have become a free agent next summer, has signed an extension until 30 June 2006. The 27-year-old German international said: "In Bremen we have a young team with good prospects. We want to go far." Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf was delighted by Baumann's decision and said: "As a key player and a leader he is an important member of my team."

Baumann, who joined Bremen from 1. FC Nürnberg in 1999, has played 135 times in the 1. Bundesliga, scoring nine goals. He has won 13 caps for Germany.
