Confirmed today
Sunday's 6-2 defeat against AEL Limassol FC was the final straw for the AEP board, who called an emergency meeting yesterday before confirming the departure of Orphanides today.
Temporary appointment
Club president Elias Eliades urged AEP's players to "take charge of your responsibilities and lead the club back to success" after announcing that Marios Kelis would take temporary charge of the team.
Tenth spot
Orphanides, who replaced Andreas Kissonergis last season departs with the club occupying tenth spot in Division A after winning just three of their opening nine league fixtures. The players have been docked 30 per cent of their wages for this month as punishment for an unacceptable performance against AEL.
