Hungary round-up: No stopping MTK

MTK Hungária are now six points clear at the top of the NB I after a 2-0 win against Györi ETO on Friday.

Late goal
In the local derby at the Hidegkuti Nandór stadium, MTK captain Béla Illés broke the deadlock after 76 minutes with his 12th goal of the season, scoring with a strike from eight metres. Illés's Hungarian international team-mate István Ferenczi completed the win with three minutes remaining, scoring from the penalty spot.

Three for Ferencváros
Györ remain have been replaced in second place in the table by Ferencvárosi TC who also have a game in hand. They continued their good progress on Saturday with a 3-1 win at MFC Sopron. Attila Tököli opened the scoring after nine minutes for Ferencváros, and his international team-mate Zoltán Gera made it 2-0 after 31 minutes. The game was put beyond Sopron's reach as Attila Kriston scored a third after 73 minutes, although Róbert Bausz pulled a goal back for Sopron three minutes later.

'Nothing tragic'
Újpesti TE are in fourth place after a 1-1 draw at their Megyeri úti stadium by Debreceni VSC. Zoltán Kovács opened the scoring with a powerful strike from 17 metres after 68 minutes, but the Újpest striker's tenth goal of the season was cancelled out as Zsombor Kerekes converted a right-wing cross from close range with three minutes remaining. We lost two points in the final minutes, but we will keep on working," said Újpest coach András Szabó. "Nothing tragic has happened."

Joy for Terjék
Elsewhere on Saturday, champions Zalaegerszegi TE secured a 2-1 win at home against Dunaferr SE, while Békéscsabai EFC and Siófok FC shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. In the day's other game, young Videoton FC Fehérvár striker Lajos Terjék had a fine afternoon, scoring in the 33rd and 88th minutes to give his side a 2-0 win against Kispest Honvéd FC.
