Republic of Ireland round-up: Bohemians keep going

Bohemians FC extended their lead at the top of the Premier Division to eleven points tonight, after an excellent 3-0 win away to Derry City FC at the Brandywell on Thursday evening.

Goalscoring return 
Republic Of Ireland international Glenn Crowe, who had just returned from playing in Greece with the national team the previous evening, opened the scoring after 37 minutes, converting a penalty after a handball by Derry defender Paddy McLaughlin.

Ryan volley 
A terrific 20-metre volley from Bobby Ryan doubled the Bohemians advantage eight minutes later, and a headed goal from defender Derek Coughlan on 47 minutes sealed the three points for the Dubliners.

McDonnell rescues point
On Monday, University College Dublin FC had come from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Saint Patrick's Athletic FC in a rearranged Premier Division game. A Tony McDonnell goal two minutes into the second half ensured that UCD came away from Richmond Park with a point. The students almost made it three but Alan Cawley shot straight at keeper Shay Kelly when clean through 12 minutes from the end.

Advantage St Patrick's
St Patrick's had taken an early lead through Paul Osam, only to concede an immediate equaliser to Robbie Doyle. However, the hosts reasserted themselves and regained the advantage on 34 minutes when Ger McCarthy chipped over Barry Ryan in the UCD goal. The fixture, originally scheduled for the previous Friday, had been postponed due to heavy rain.
