Bohemians FC extended their lead at the top of the FAI League tonight after a 1-1 at Cork City FC.

Bohemians FC extended their lead at the top of the FAI League tonight after a hard fought 1-1 draw away to ten-man Cork City FC at Turner's Cross.

O'Callaghan dismissed
Glenn Crowe gave Bohemians the lead after 24 minutes, when he converted a cross from Stephen Caffrey. However, Cork equalised before the break when a Declan Daly free kick was flicked into the net by on-loan defender Dan Murray. Cork were reduced to ten men shortly into the second half when midfield player George O'Callaghan was dismissed, but they managed to hold on for a deserved point, withstanding a late spell of Bohemians pressure.

Robinson sinks Shelbourne
Second placed Shelbourne FC went down 1-0 at home to Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers FC, continuing their poor form in Dublin derbies this season. Despite Shelbourne being on top for most of the game, it was Rovers who scored the only goal on 60 minutes, when midfielder Shane Robinson finished from close range after Pat Scully directed the ball into his path from a Greg Costello cross.

Derry go down
St Patrick's Athletic FC returned to form with a 1-0 victory over FAI Cup winners Derry City FC. Martin Russell scored the decisive goal on 51 minutes, stylishly converting a cross from Ger McCarthy.

UCD held
University College Dublin FC remain adrift at the bottom of the table after a 0-0 draw at home to Longford Town FC. UCD dominated the majority of the game, but could not make the breakthrough despite their opposition being reduced to ten men when Barry Ferguson was given his marching orders fifteen minutes from time.

Precious win
Drogheda United FC bounced back from five successive defeats to beat visitors Bray Wanderers AFC 2-1 at O2 Park. Declan O'Brien gave the home side the lead after six minutes, but Colm Tresson equalised against his former club fifteen minutes later. Andy Myler restored Drogheda's advantage fifteen minutes from time, and despite O'Brien receiving a red card five minutes later, the hosts held on for a precious three points.
