Bohemians FC surrendered their unbeaten FAI League record after a 2-1 defeat against Shelbourne FC.

Bohemian FC surrendered their unbeaten record in the FAI League on Friday night, losing by the odd goal in three at home to defending champions Shelbourne FC.

Cool Crawley
Shelbourne opened the scoring on 19 minutes when Glen Crowe brought down Ollie Cahill in the Bohemians penalty area and David Crawley dispatched the spot-kick. Richie Baker doubled Shelbourne's lead with five minutes remaining before Crowe struck a consolation which was not enough to prevent Bohemians slumping to their first defeat of the season.

Still clear
Despite the defeat, Bohemians remain six points clear at the top of the table after second-placed Cork City FC lost 4-1 to Shamrock Rovers FC. Noel Hunt broke the deadlock after five minutes and Trevor Molloy soon doubled the advantage. A fine individual goal by Molloy made it 3-0 to Liam Buckley's side shortly before half-time. Colin Patrick O'Brien pulled one back for Cork City on the hour, but a goal from substitute Stephen Grant five minutes from time sealed a fine victory for the Dubliners.

Fantastic Finn
University College Dublin FC remain bottom of the table, but closed the gap on Bray Wanderers FC to one point after only their second win of the season, a 3-0 triumph at home against Drogheda United FC. Sean Finn was the hero, scoring a hat-trick in the space of ten first-half minutes. An error by visiting goalkeeper Gary Rogers led to the first goal, a deflected free-kick gave Finn his second, and his third was a header from Patrick Sullivan's cross.

Osam decisive
On Saturday, Saint Patrick's Athletic FC took all three points away from Flancare Park, when a 62nd-minute strike from Paul Osam gave them a 1-0 win over Longford Town FC.
