Luciano ban cut short

AC Chievo Verona winger Luciano Siqueira, formerly Eriberto, will be able to play again next month.

AC Chievo Verona winger Luciano Siqueira will be able to return to action next month after the decision today to reduce his suspension from football.

False identity
Luciano initially received a seven-month ban running until the end of May after he revealed in August he had been playing under an assumed identity as Eriberto. The Italian Football League's disciplinary commission imposed the suspension on the Brazilian, who, at 27, is four years older than his forged papers had suggested.

January return
However, the Italian Olympic Committee's chamber of conciliation and arbitration in sport has now ruled the player can return on 26 January, when Chievo face Perugia Calcio.

Donation to earthquake town
At today's hearing Luciano and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) agreed he would pay a fine of €100,000 which will be donated to the town of San Giuliano di Puglia, to help rebuild sport facilities damaged in the earthquake last November. Chievo currently sit fourth in Serie A just six points behind leaders AC Milan.
