Guidolin has established the Rossoblu as one of the leading clubs in Serie A outside the traditional powerhouses since replacing Sergio Buso in 1999. Bologna have finished eleventh, ninth and then seventh last season in his three campaigns at the Dall'Ara stadium.

"I want to continue my project with Bologna until 2005 and sincerely hope that I can stay even longer," said Guidolin, a former coach of Vicenza Calcio and Udinese Calcio. Bologna are currently fifth in Serie A with 22 points from 12 matches.
