David Trezeguet returned from injury as Juventus FC won their Italian Cup third round first-leg tie.

France international forward David Trezeguet has returned to action for Juventus FC as they won their third round first-leg tie at Reggina Calcio 2-0.

Fourth appearance
The Turin giants fielded an under-strength side tonight, which was compensated for somewhat by Trezeguet making his first appearance since the beginning of October and just his fourth in total of an injury-plagued season.

Salas penalty
After a useful workout, the Frenchman was substituted 13 minutes after half-time. The opening goal came nine minutes later when Chilean Marcelo Salas converted a penalty after Giandomenico Mesto had fouled Gianluca Zambrotta in the area. Marcelo Zalayeta then struck in the 89th minute to give Marcello Lippi's side take a comfortable lead ahead of the return at the Delle Alpi.

Chievo held
Earlier, Serie A sides Piacenza FC and AC Chievo Verona drew 1-1 draw in the first leg of their third-round tie at the Galleana stadium. Both sides were without key players, with Piacenza striker Dario Hubner joining Chievo's rested midfield player Eugenio Corini and striker Massimo Marazzina on the sidelines.

Fine volley
After a sluggish first half, Piacenza took the lead in the 59th minute when defender Vittorio Tosto volleyed a loose ball from 20 metres to beat Chievo goalkeeper Marco Ambrosio at his left-hand post.

Substitute scores
Their lead did not last long, however. In the 65th minute, Chievo coach Luigi Del Neri brought on 18-year-old Brazilian striker Marcos Ariel De Paula and, two minutes after his arrival, he equalised, firing into the net from close range after Sergio Pellisier's shot was blocked on the line.

Bologna held

Precise cross
However, Bologna's hopes of taking a lead into the second leg of the tie were dashed when veteran striker Stefan Schwoch got on the end of a precise cross from Riccardo Fissore and headed an equaliser past goalkeeper Ferdinando Coppola in the 69th minute.
