Revivo leaving Fenerbahçe

Israeli midfield player Haim Revivo is to quit Fenerbahçe SK after failing to negotiate a new contract.

Former Israeli international midfield player Haim Revivo is leaving Turkish club Fenerbahçe SK following his failure to negotiate an extension to his contract.

No deal
Revivo said the reason behind his departure was the lack of interest shown by the club's board in offering him a new deal. "I have been waiting for an appointment to discuss terms over my new contract from the board for a week, but there was no reply from them." he said.

German link
Revivo's options appear to include a possible return to his former club RC Celta de Vigo in Spain or a move to German club Hamburger SV. Since the arrival in Istanbul of Argentinian playmaker Ariel Ortega, Revivo's first-team chances had become limited and Fenerbahçe director of football Saadettin Saran confirmed Revivo's departure.

'Three days of negotiations'
"After three days of negotiations we took this decision," Saran said. "We agreed to let him go and his transfer will earn us money." The 30-year-old Revivo joined Fenerbahçe in summer 2000 from Celta and scored 29 goals in 65 appearances.
