Article body
Chelsea FC's Australian international goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has been charged with bringing the game into disrepute by the English Football Association after testing positive for cocaine.
Rules breached
A statement on the FA's website said: "The Football Association can confirm that Mark Bosnich of Chelsea FC has been charged with breaches of FA Rules E1 and E26...Bosnich will be suspended from all football activities until the charges have been heard."
Positive test
The 30-year-old former Aston Villa FC and Manchester United FC player failed a first test seven weeks ago, and his B sample proved positive last week.
Third choice
Bosnich, whose career has stumbled since becoming one of the best keepers in the world during his time at Villa, has not played for Chelsea this season. Italian Carlo Cudicini has established himself as Chelsea's No1, and Dutchman Ed De Goey has been on the bench.
Possible worldwide ban
Chelsea decided to suspend Bosnich, who reportedly earns around €60,000 a week, before the results of the B sample were known. Now Bosnich, who was admitted to a clinic last month suffering from clinical depression, faces a possible worldwide ban.
