Rekarte settles Real future

Real Sociedad defender Aitor López Rekarte has signed a four-year contract extension with the Spanish club.

Lengthy talks
The right-back’s contract had been due to expire in June but, after six months of negotiation, he has finally agreed a deal that will take him up to 2007. The club also has a clause for a possible extension if so desired.

Going nowhere
Rekarte, 27, is in the form of his life for the Primera División leaders. "I have not listened to any other clubs because I have always wanted to play here,” said Rekarte.
