Bohemian FC suffered a shock 2-0 defeat against Saint Patrick's Athletic FC in this week's games.

League leaders Bohemian FC suffered a shock 2-0 defeat against Saint Patrick's Athletic FC in this week's games.

Vital win
St Patrick's had not registered a victory since early November, and manager Pat Dolan badly needed this win at Richmond Park against Stephen Kenny's side who were without star striker Glen Crowe.

Controversial incident
Welsh striker Tony Bird put the hosts in front after 41 minutes, and the game was decided by a controversial incident twenty minutes from time. Bohemians defender Derek Coughlan was sent off for a second bookable offence, and from the subsequent free kick Paul Osam scored to seal the three points for the west Dublin side.

O'Flynn hat-trick
Young striker John O'Flynn scored a hat-trick for Cork City FC, as they defeated basement side Bray Wanderers AFC at Turner's Cross. A spectacular 12th minute volley from O'Flynn gave Cork the lead, but Bray scored a deserved equaliser through Barry O'Connor shortly after half-time. Further strikes from O'Flynn after 63 and 75 minutes gave Cork a comfortable victory which keeps them in third position.

Rovers return
Shamrock Rovers FC bounced back from an unfortunate defeat to Shelbourne FC last Sunday when they defeated Drogheda United 2-0 at o2 Park. Winger Shane Robinson put Rovers in front after 23 minutes, and the victory was secured seven minutes from time when versatile attacking player Stephen Grant doubled their advantage.

Relief for UCD
University College Dublin FC moved within three points of safety at the bottom when they scored a crucial 1-0 victory over Derry City FC at Belfield Park. Robbie Doyle converted from the penalty spot for the only goal of the game after five minutes, but the striker was sent off eight minutes later for violent conduct.

Waterlogged pitch
This evening's other Premier Division clash between second placed Shelbourne and Longford Town FC was called off due to a waterlogged Tolka Park pitch.
