Dramatic encounter
In a match marred by three red and nine yellow cards, it was Anderlecht who took the lead through a bullet header by Bertrand Crasson on the stroke of half-time. at this stage Anderlecht had a numerical advantage after Birger Maertens had been sent off, however, when Glen de Boeck and Nenad Jestrovic were red carded after the interval, the tie turned in Brügge's favour and goals from Olivier de Cock and Phillippe Clement secured a 2-1 win.
Steady progress
K. Sint Truidense VV continued their surprising rise up the table when they recorded an unexpected 2-0 win at K. Lierse SK. A superb goal by Dries Jacquemin put Sint-Truiden ahead after only one minute and Marco Pereira sealed the win on the hour with his side's second.
Big defeat
KRC Genk lost ground on the league leaders when they suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of R. Standard de Liège. Two goals from Ali Lukunku and superb finishes from Ole Martin Aarst and Daniel Moreira gave the visitors a sensational 4-0 lead at half-time and Jonathan Walaziak completed the rout in the second period before Mirsad Beslija gave the hosts some consolation.

Elsewhere, R. Excelsior Mouscron continued to suffer in the absence of Mbo Mpenza and were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in a drab goalless draw with KSK Beveren while R. Charleroi SC and RAA Louviéroise drew 1-1. Gregory Dufer gave Charleroi a deserved lead before a mistake by keeper Istvan Dudas allowed Ricardo Magro to steal a point for the visitors.
Roussel on target
KVC Westerlo earned some breathing space from their troubles with a 2-1 win at R. Antwerp FC with Jan De Langhe scoring the only goal. R. AEC Mons won 2-1 against KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen thanks to two goals in quick succession from Arnaud Rivenet and Cedric Roussel. Finally, KV Mechelen's troubles continued with a 2-0 defeat against KAA Gent.
