Southampton and Latvia forward Marians Pahars could be out of action until the new year with a troublesome ankle injury.
In plaster
His ankle has been in plaster for the last two weeks but it has failed to substantially improve so Pahars will remain in plaster until 17 December and is then likely to need up to two weeks' rehabilitation work before he can return.
'Very frustrating'
Pahars is therefore aiming to be fit for the New Year's day English Premiership match against Tottenham Hotspur FC. "Being injured is the worst thing in football and this is very frustrating," Pahars told Southampton's official website.
'Bounce back'
"I had an operation in the summer and that put me out of the whole of pre-season and I am paying for it now. I will bounce back but I know I will have to fight to get back in the side even if I am fit."
