Flared up again
The Croatian international was playing only his second game since returning to the side after being hurt in October. The shoulder flared up again in Tuesday night's 1-0 German Cup victory against Hamburger SV and Tapalovic had to be substituted in the 53rd minute.
Three goals
The 26-year-old joined Bochum in the summer after spells with TSV 1860 München, FC Schalke 04 and Fortuna Gelsenkirchen. In 104 1. Bundesliga matches he has scored three goals.
Van Duijnhoven operation
Meanwhile, Bochum's goalkeeper Rein van Duijnhoven has undergone surgery on his injured knee. The 35-year-old Dutchman is expected to return to training in January.
