Crowe double
Two goals from Republic of Ireland international Glen Crowe were enough to give Stephen Kenny's side victory over third-placed Cork. Crowe opened the scoring on 12 minutes after a pass from midfield player Stephen Caffrey left him with just Cork goalkeeper Michael Devine to beat. Twenty-four minutes later, a mix-up in the Cork back four gave the prolific Crowe the opportunity to double Bohemians' advantage and seal the three points.
Landmark goal
On Monday evening, Shamrock Rovers FC moved within three points of Cork as they registered a 3-1 win against Derry City FC. Derry went ahead after just nine seconds when Peter Hutton scored the fastest goal in the history of the league.
Grant the hero
However, Rovers always looked the stronger outfit and equalised on 39 minutes, striker Noel Hunt heading in a cross from Stephen Grant. Grant then turned hero with a wonderful strike on 65 minutes that extended the Dubliners' lead. Young midfield player Paul Caffrey added a third goal for Rovers on 77 minutes, after Grant and Hunt combined yet again.
Match rearranged
Derry were also due to face Saint Patrick's Athletic FC on Thursday evening at the Brandywell, but the game was postponed due to a frozen pitch and will now take place on Saturday evening, weather permitting.
