Article body
AC Milan held on to their Serie A lead thanks to a 2-1 win at bottom side Como Calcio as S.S. Lazio kept up the pressure by winning by the same scoreline at champions Juventus FC.
Shevchenko winner
Milan went ahead in the 20th minute through Massimo Ambrosini, but Como, without a win all season, gave themselves hope of at least a point when Fabio Pecchia equalised two minutes later. However, Andriy Shevchenko headed in a Rivaldo corner four minutes before half-time to keep Milan on top.
Fiore's double delight
Lazio came from 1-0 behind to beat Juventus 2-1 in Turin. Pavel Nedved gave the home side an early lead, but Stefano Fiore scored either side of half time to keep Lazio within a point of Milan. Juventus are fifth, six points away from Milan, after being overtaken on Saturday by AC Chevio Verona.
Substitute the hero
Internazionale FC, without top scorer Christian Vieri, overcame Atalanta BC 1-0 to remain third. In a lively match, Mohamed Kallon was introduced on 68 minutes, and not long afterwards decided the game with a powerful left-footed shot that keeps Atalanta adrift in the relegation zone.
Totti scores but departs
AS Roma lost Francesco Totti to a suspected knee injury during the first half but still returned to form with 3-0 win against lowly Reggina Calcio. Defender Walter Samuel put Roma ahead on three minutes, but after Totti had doubled the lead he had to leave the pitch before half-time. Vincenzo Montella clinched the win with 20 minutes left to leave Roma in ninth place.
Baggio milestone
Robert Baggio scored the 200th goal of his Serie A career as his penalty helped Brescia Calcio beat AC Perugia 3-1. Brescia's Albanian striker Igli Tare scored two first-half headers, and although Perugia striker Fabrizio Miccoli pulled one back with just under half an hour remaining, Baggio's spot-kick two minutes from the end sealed three vital points for his side.
First away point
Torino Calcio secured their first away point of the season with a 1-1 draw at Udinese Calcio thanks to Cristiano Lucarelli’s 58th minute equaliser cancelling out Vincenzo Iaquinta’s opener, while Empoli FC beat Modena FC 1-0 thanks to Tommaso Rocchi’s winner six minutes from the end.
