United hit West Ham for six

A rampant Manchester United FC brushed aside West Ham United FC 6-0 in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.

Manchester United FC produced a magnificent performance to beat English Premiership rivals West Ham United FC 6-0 in the FA Cup fourth round.

Giggs double
The result was never in doubt after Ryan Giggs had scored twice to put United 2-0 up on 21 minutes. West Ham were put under constant pressure, David James doing well to save from David Beckham before Paul Scholes hit the post.

Goals flow
The goals flowed again after half-time, Ruud van Nistelrooij and Phil Neville both scoring within five minutes of the restart. The Dutchman added his second before the hour mark, and Ole Gunnar Solskjær made it six 20 minutes from the end.

Ferguson tribute
Victorious manager Sir Alex Ferguson paid tribute to Giggs, saying: "Confidence affects everyone, there is no player who does not get affected by that, but you see him today he was terrific and he is back to his best. It was a good performance, we have gradually been getting better in the last few weeks, particularly the last week or so."

Malbranque hat-trick
Fulham FC also made it through to the last 16 with a 3-0 victory against top-flight London rivals Charlton Athletic FC. Steed Malbranque was the star for Fulham, scoring a second-half hat-trick, with goals on 59, 66 and 87 minutes, the last two both penalties. Mark Fish was sent off for the foul which led to the third goal, pulling down Facundo Sava.

Liverpool hold on
However, Liverpool FC, who last won the trophy in 2001, will need a replay after being held 0-0 at first division Crystal Palace FC. Liverpool suffered an early blow when goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital for x-rays on his right knee after challenging Dele Adebola. However, replacement Jerzy Dudek held firm against some strong Palace pressure to earn a replay.

Chelsea ease through
Third division Shrewsbury Town - who beat Everton FC in the third round - found Chelsea FC a tougher prospect as the top-flight visitors eased to a 4-0 win. Gianfranco Zola opened the scoring on 40 minutes, and added another in the second half, in between goals from Carlton Cole and Jody Morris.
