Deportivo owed their progress to a 1-0 first-leg victory after they went down 4-3 to second division promotion hopefuls Murcia in a gripping match at La Condomina stadium.
Tristán on target
Javier Irureta's men had led 2-1 at half-time, David Karanka's effort reducing the arrears following Diego Tristán's early double for the visitors. After the break, however, Murcia scored two quick goals through Juan Manuel Valero and a Vicente Blanco 'Tito' penalty to go ahead for the first time on the night, though not in the tie.
Decisive goal
But while Miguel Albiol would register a late fourth for the hosts, it was not before Manuel Pablo García had struck the decisive goal with a volley on the hour mark. Deportivo went through to join Club Atlético Osasuna, RCD Mallorca and RC Recreativo de Huelva in the last four.
