England round-up: Henry and Arsenal riding high

A Thierry Henry hat-trick saw Arsenal FC restore their five-point lead with a win against West Ham United FC.

A Thierry Henry hat-trick ensured Arsenal FC restored their five-point lead at the top of the English Premiership with a 3-1 home win against lowly West Ham United FC on Sunday.

Early boost
The home side received an early boost when West Ham's Steve Lomas was sent off on 13 minutes for tugging on Robert Pires in the area, Henry then converting the resultant penalty.

Extra man tells
Jermain Defoe levelled on 40 minutes, but Arsenal's extra man told as Henry headed his side back ahead in the 71st minute and completed his treble four minutes from the end. Henry's feat takes him to the top of the Premiership goalscorers' table with 17, two ahead of Southampton FC's James Beattie.

Late game
Fulham FC's relegation worries were eased with a 1-0 home win against Middlesbrough FC. Sean Davis scored the only goal 39 minutes into the game to move Fulham eight points clear of the bottom three. Middlesbrough remain 12th after their tenth loss in 12 Premiership away matches this season.
