New surgery for Salihamidzic

Members

FC Bayern München midfield player Hasan Salihamidzic is to have a second knee operation next week.

Artificial ligament
The 25-year-old Bosnian international, who has scored twice in 12 league appearances this season, will have an artificial cruciate knee ligament fitted on 15 January.

New procedure
Salihamidzic had been expected to miss the rest of the campaign after an operation on the same problem in the United States eight weeks ago. However, Bayern team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt has said he could be back within four and a half months of the new procedure.

Wolfsburg woe
Salihamidzic, a UEFA Champions League winner with Bayern in 2001, tore his cruciate ligament in the 1. Bundesliga match against VfL Wolfsburg on 16 November. He had suffered a similar injury the year before.

Deisler boost
Meanwhile, Bayern's German international midfield player Sebastian Deisler has completed his first full day's training with the club he joined last summer, having recovered from the knee injury which ruled him out of the FIFA World Cup finals.
