UEFA has instigated disciplinary proceedings against the RC Celta de Vigo midfield player Peter Luccin for spitting at an opponent during the UEFA Cup third round second-leg match against Celtic FC.
Video evidence
European football's governing body said it had opened proceedings against the 23-year-old Frenchman on the basis of video evidence of the incident involving Celtic's John Hartson, which happened during Celta's 2-1 victory on 12 December. The Scottish team progressed on away goals following a 1-0 first-leg victory in Glasgow.

UEFA added that the case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on Thursday 16 January 2003.
