Loan star
The Primera División's bottom club have captured the 23-year-old on a six-month loan with the option of a €2m transfer at the end of the season. Joaozinho will link up with fellow arrivals Mariano Pernía, a full-back from Argentinian side Club Atlético Independiente, and centre-back Nelson Zelaya from Paraguay's Club Olimpia.
Relegation threat
Joaozinho moves from Brazilian club Cruzeiro EC, where he had fallen out of favour with coach Wanderley Luxemburgo. His new team lie six points adrift of second-from-bottom RCD Espanyol and face an instant return to the second division following their promotion last term.
