Bosnia-Herzegovnian forward Slavisa Mitrovic has left Korean football to return to FC National Bucuresti.

Bosnia-Herzegovnian forward Slavisa Mitrovic has left Korean football to return to Romanian club FC National Bucuresti.

Popescu staying
The striker had a contract with Blue Wings Suwon in the Korean Republic's K-League until June but, after an unhappy spell, the club has agreed to terminate the deal and allow the player to return to Europe. Mitrovic, who leaves behind Romanian team-mate Gabriel Popescu at Suwon, has agreed an 18-month contract with National.

Wants to play
"It wasn't worth staying there as a reserve," said Mitrovic. "Life goes on and Suwon are not the last team on the earth. I am 25 and my aim is to have a career. If it was only a matter of money, I would have stayed in South Korea until the summer. But I didn't get too many chances."

Out of sight
Mitrovic also said he was returning because he felt being in Asia affected his international chances. "Even if you play well in South Korea, you lose contact with Europe," he said. The player has a Romanian fiancée and wants to represent his adopted country. "My dream is to play for the Romanian national team," he said.

Top scorer
He first came to Romania in the autumn of 1999 to sign for National. After a slow start, Mitrovic soon caught the eye with some clinical finishing and his best season was in 2001/02, when he finished National's top scorer with ten goals in 29 games.
