Members

Cameroon defender Bill Tchato has joined 1. FC Kaiserslautern from French side Montpellier Hérault SC.

Cameroonian international Bill Tchato has described 1. FC Kaiserslautern as "a fascinating club" after signing a three-year contract with the 1. Bundesliga side from Montpellier Hérault SC.

Undisclosed fee
Kaiserslautern have captured the 27-year-old defender for an undisclosed fee, and Tchato has already flown to Turkey to link up with his new team-mates at their winter training camp. He is likely to make his first appearance for Eric Gerets's side in a friendly against Dutch side SC Heerenveen on Saturday.

'Big club'
Outstanding as Cameroon won the African Cup of Nations last year, Tchato subsequently played in each of his country's three matches at the FIFA World Cup. He said of his new club: "Kaiserslautern are a big club with a lot of tradition. The stadium and the fans are fascinating and I hope that I can help the club to avoid relegation."

'Good tackler'
Prior to joining Montpellier in the 1999/00 season, Tchato turned out for three other French clubs - ASOA Valence, SM Caen CBN and OGC Nice. He has scored once in 24 appearances for Cameroon and Gerets was glad to add some experience to his defence, saying of his acquisition: "He is a good tackler and has a good eye for the game in defence as well as offensively."
