Contract terminated
The Stavanger club were unhappy that the player stayed at home in Ghana rather than report back for training as planned. "After several meetings, both parties now agree to terminate the contract," said a Viking spokesman. "Viking's obligations towards the player end on 24 January and he is now free to find a new club."
Absent without leave
Abdul-Karim also went absent without leave when playing for his former Norwegian club, Kongsvinger IL. The 22-year-old was part of the Ghana side which reached the last four of the FIFA World Youth Championship in 1997.
