German 1. Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart have signed Brazilian striker Cacau from 1. FC Nürnberg on a free transfer.
Nine goals
Cacau, who has agreed a contract keeping him at Stuttgart until June 2006, first played in Germany for amateur side Türk Gücü München, after leaving Nacional AC of São Paulo. He joined Nürnberg last season and has since scored nine goals, including two at Stuttgart in February 2002 and another this week against VfL Bochum.
'A lot of ability'
Stuttgart coach Felix Magath, whose side currently lie fifth in the Bundesliga and are still in the UEFA Cup after progressing though the UEFA Intertoto Cup, said: "Cacau is a player just at the start of his career, but already has a lot of ability. We saw what he is capable of doing last season against Nürnberg, when he scored twice against us."
'Something is growing'
Cacau added: "In Stuttgart something is growing. Right now VfB are one of the most exciting teams in the Bundesliga. This gives me the chance, as a young player, of further development and, maybe, of playing in Europe."
